Crop, size and check a passport photo against the official rules — UK, EU (Schengen), US or a custom size. Your photo never leaves this device.

How it works

  1. Choose the photo standard: United Kingdom (35×45 mm), European Union / Schengen (35×45 mm) or United States (2×2 in) — or type a custom size and DPI.
  2. Choose a photo or take one with your camera. iPhone HEIC photos work too.
  3. The tool finds your face and crops so your head height sits inside the official chin-to-crown range. Drag and zoom to fine-tune against the oval guide.
  4. Optionally swap the background for a plain light grey, white, cream or any hex colour.
  5. Save the photo at the exact pixel size for an online application, or a 6×4 in print sheet to print at a photo kiosk.

What it checks

Background plainness and colour, head size against the official band, eyes open, neutral expression (where required), head tilt and turn, centring, pixel size and file size. These checks are guidance: the tool helps you meet the spec and checks it, but only the passport or visa office can accept a photo — it cannot guarantee acceptance.

Private by design

Face detection runs in your browser using on-device models. Your photo is never uploaded, stored on a server or shared with anyone.

Sources

Sizes come from gov.uk (Photos for passports), ICAO Doc 9303 / the Schengen Visa Code, and travel.state.gov (Passport photos). Each preset shows its source and the date it was last checked.
